ITINERARY
Day 1 - Arrival and Volcanic Beginnings
Touch down at Keflavík International Airport around midday and kick off the journey with a visit to the Fagradalsfjall Volcano, a stark reminder of Iceland’s ever-changing geology. Next, we explore Climeworks Orca, the world’s first large-scale direct air capture and storage plant, to see how Iceland is tackling climate change head-on. Before nightfall, we stop in Hveragerði, a geothermal hotspot known for its bubbling hot springs.
Day 2 - The Golden Circle
We start at Þingvellir National Park, where the Eurasian and North American tectonic plates drift apart. From there, we head to the explosive Geysir Hot Springs and then to the mighty Gullfoss waterfall. In the afternoon, we reach Hvolsvöllur, home to the LAVA Centre, an interactive museum where we deep dive into Iceland’s volcanic history. We end the day with a Norse-themed dinner at Valhalla Restaurant."
Day 3 - Waterfalls and Glaciers
Our day begins at the powerful Skógafoss waterfall before continuing to the hidden gem of Kvernufoss. We then visit Sólheimajökull, a striking outlet glacier, before heading to Dyrhólaey, where dramatic cliffs overlook the Atlantic. The journey takes us to Vík, Iceland’s southernmost village, where we explore its famous black sand beaches.
Day 4 - Ice and Lava
We start with a visit to the legendary Yoda Cave before heading to the breathtaking Svartifoss waterfall, surrounded by basalt columns. The adventure continues at Svínafellsjökull Glacier, a site of towering ice formations. After an exhilarating visit to Tröll Expeditions Skaftafell, we finish the day at Diamond Beach, where icebergs shimmer on the black volcanic shore. We spend the night in Höfn, a fishing town known for its seafood.
Day 5 - Hot Springs and Lava Tunnels
After a morning exploring Höfn, we relax at Hoffell Hot Tubs, where natural geothermal waters offer the perfect break (optional activity). We then head to Kirkjubæjarklaustur, a village with ties to medieval monks. The day ends with free time to explore Reykjavík.
Day 6 - Snæfellsnes Peninsula
We journey to Grundarfjörður, home to the famous Kirkjufell mountain, one of Iceland’s most photographed spots. From there, we visit Arnarstapi Cliff Viewpoint, where rugged sea stacks and basalt formations tell a story of volcanic power. By evening, we return to Reykjavík for our final night.
Day 7 - Reflection and Farewell
Our last morning is spent reflecting on the journey with Marco in Reykjavík. After a final discussion on Iceland’s geological wonders and their global significance, we say our goodbyes at lunchtime, bringing home a newfound appreciation for the forces shaping our planet.
