Join Mattia Farina (aka @Biologicamente91), biologist and environmental educator, for a unique journey along the Cammino Minerario di Santa Barbara in Sardinia. Discover the rich cultural and natural heritage of the Sulcis-Iglesiente-Guspinese region, exploring breathtaking landscapes and engaging in sustainable volunteer activities at the regenerative park In Our Garden.
TRIP PURPOSE
Discover forms of regeneration and permaculture in one of the most authentic corners of Sardinia. An alternative model of coexistence with nature and social innovation.

This unique pilgrimage combines Sardinia’s mining heritage with its religious and cultural traditions. Walk ancient trails surrounded by mountains, abandoned villages, and stunning sea views. - Volunteer and Regenerate
At the regenerative park In Our Garden, take part in volunteering activities such as gardening, pruning orange trees, and building sustainable structures. - Cultural Immersion
Dive into Sardinia’s industrial legacy and socio-anthropological traditions. From mining villages to sand dunes, explore stories of the past while connecting with the island’s vibrant present-day culture.

What's included
- Accomodation: 9 nights in shared dormitory or double room in the accommodations listed in the itinerary or of equivalent standard.
- Food: During our stay at "In our Garden" (day 7-8-9) lunch and dinner will be included.
- Transportation: Tickets for internal transfers and a transfer from the final stop to Cagliari Airport.
- Activities: Volunteering activities at "In our Garden" organization.
- Other: Support from an ORMA coordinator throughout the entire trip.
- Insurance: Medical and baggage insurance.
What's not included
- Food: Lunches and dinners, unless specified otherwise.
- Accomodation: City tax.
- Transporation: Flight from and to Cagliari starting from €150.

Payment Terms
30% down payment at the time of booking and the remaining 70% due 30 days prior to departure.
If the booking is made within 30 days of departure, the full amount is due at checkout.

ITINERARY
Day 1: Arrival in Cagliari
Arrive by train to the vibrant capital of Sardinia, Cagliari. After checking in, meet your group and take a leisurely stroll through the city’s historic streets. This is your chance to start connecting with fellow travelers and immerse yourself in the lively atmosphere of this Mediterranean gem.
Day 2: Iglesias to Nebida
After an early morning train ride to Iglesias, your adventure begins in the city’s historic center. This 21 km stage takes you through rolling hills and mining paths, offering sweeping views of Sardinia’s rugged landscape. Rest for the night in the charming Posada Nebida.
Day 3: Nebida to Masua
This shorter, 9.3 km stretch winds through picturesque trails with views of the sea and iconic rock formations. You’ll descend toward Masua, where you’ll stay at the welcoming Ostello del Viandante.
Day 4: Masua to Buggerru
Covering 19.3 km, this stage features significant elevation changes as you traverse coastal paths and mining relics. End your day in the quaint town of Buggerru, resting at Posada Buggerru.
Day 5: Buggerru to Portixeddu
At 12.4 km, this stage offers a mix of gentle climbs and descents, leading you to the serene seaside town of Portixeddu. Enjoy your stay at Hotel Sardus Pater, a perfect place to unwind after a day of exploration.
Day 6: Portixeddu to Piscinas
The final 16.3 km stage takes you through breathtaking sand dunes and lush landscapes. This route captures the essence of Sardinia’s natural beauty. You’ll rest at Posada Pitzinurri, reflecting on the journey’s achievements.
Day 7: Arrival at Ecovillaggio "In Our Garden"
Travel to Quartu Sant’Elena to spend three days at Ecovillaggio "In Our Garden," a regenerative sanctuary combining sustainable living with community collaboration. Settle into the eco-friendly accommodations and learn about their mission to harmonize with the Earth.
Day 8: Regenerative Agriculture and Crafting
Participate in hands-on activities such as planting crops, pruning orange trees, and helping maintain the community garden. Experience the joy of co-production by crafting structures and contributing to ongoing projects.
Day 9: Innovation and Connection
Engage in social media and creative tasks to support the Ecovillaggio’s outreach efforts. Participate in workshops on permaculture and bioeconomy, discovering the transformative power of regenerative practices.
Day 10: Farewell and Departure
Say goodbye to Sardinia as you take a private transfer back to Iglesias. From there, catch a train to Cagliari, carrying with you memories of a truly unique adventure. Until next time!

What is the average age of participants? Are there age limits?

Participants are generally between 22 and 45 years old, with an average age of 30-35. There are no age limits: we accept minors (with legal guardian consent) and people over 45. However, consider the type of trip, as some activities may require good physical condition.
What are the exact arrival and departure times?

Our trips typically start around lunchtime or early afternoon, with departures in the same timeframe. However, times may vary depending on the destination. We remain flexible so everyone can plan accordingly. If you arrive late or need to leave early, just let us know in advance.
Is vegan/vegetarian food available? What about celiac disease?

Absolutely! Many of our coordinators and participants are vegetarian or vegan, so we always choose restaurants with suitable options. Our trips can also accommodate celiac disease, as long as we are informed in advance. The same applies to any allergies or intolerances.
When is the trip officially confirmed?

For long-haul or non-European trips, confirmation happens at least 1.5 months before departure. If the trip isn’t confirmed by then, it will be canceled. For shorter trips, confirmation happens 3-4 weeks before departure. You’ll receive an email once the trip is confirmed, along with a link to the Telegram group to coordinate logistics with other travelers.
Can I travel with the creator? What transport does the creator use, and from where?

Yes! If the transport type, departure station, and schedule are already set, they will be listed on the trip page. If not, we’ll share this information in the Telegram group once the trip is confirmed.
